INSTALLATION ART
Our Objects, Our Lives
Installation Art class, winter 2011
A whitebox installation looking at the relationship between self and objects. Performers (on pedestals) continually looped through a series of routine gestures with a toothbrush, pen, travel mug, and scarf. This work was largely inspired by Martin Heidegger’s notion of “presence at hand” – the idea that a thing only becomes present to us when it when it loses its usefulness, when it stops functioning in the way that we normally experience it.
StNUdents on Display: A Northwestern Experience
WAVE Productions, Northwestern University, June 2010
A multi-room exhibit exploring the role of community at Northwestern. In this space, "The Majors Room," students must literally declare a major, while considering various statistics about students from various majors (hanging from the ceiling). Representatives from these majors sit at the desk stations.
