Eugene Field Park
(Albany Park Theatre Project)
Currently co-teaching a weekly, after-school creative drama class at Eugene Field Park, through the Albany Park Theatre Project.
The curriculum draws on storytelling, improvisation, acting, and a variety of other drama-in-education techniques. Students in this class learn to work together to tell stories, create environments, and accomplish goals.
Underground Railway Theater
In summer of 2009, I served as an assistant teacher for the Youth Underground program at Underground Railway Theatre in Cambridge, MA. Youth Underground is Underground Railway Theater’s teen ensemble for area youth ages 13-18. The Youth Underground Ensemble is a theater training and performance program whose goal is to create theater that connects with and speaks to issues of community and youth.
Led youth in creation of performance event, including acting/character development, ensemble-generated movement (Viewpoints and Laban), and post-show audience dialogues.
Photos below show rehearsals for our performance of Swords into Ploughshares, an original piece dealing with issues of youth violence.
