Hi, my name is Jacob Watson and I'm a rising senior theatre major in the School of Communication at
Northwestern University in Evanston, IL (anticipate B.A. in theatre June 2011). Originally, I'm from just outside of Boston, MA.On this website, you will find a summary of my interests and education, as well as samples from my previous work and experiences as a theatre artist and designer.
Within theatre, I enjoy acting, directing, designing, and teaching. Currently, I am the Artistic Director for the student-run performance and community service organization Purple Crayon Players. I am passionate about devised theatre, theatre for social change, postmodern/postdramatic theatre, museum theatre/living history, and theatre for youth (TYA). I am also a proud member of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, for which I have helped to lead a workshop session on devising with youth and created a presentation on the use of new media/technology in theatre for youth. This August, I will be presenting a session with Purple Crayon Players about how to foster interest in TYA in undergraduate theatre programs at universities.
I have also worked as a freelance video, graphic, and web designer, making everything from logos, posters, flyers, brochures, letterheads and businesscards to websites, online portfolios, and short videos. My services are available for hire here.
Some of my other interests include playing piano, singing, cooking, photography, yoga, coffee, road trips, and strategy games.
